Two Days Workshop on English Language and Communication Pedagogy
On 22nd Saturday and 23rd Sunday 2023 , two Days Workshop on English Language and Communication Pedagogy for the Engliash Lecturers of DCS Schools was organised at Vishnu Gupta Vidyapeeta, Gokarna.
Mrs. Rashmi A, Lecturer in English, Mr. Karthik Krishna A, Lecturer in Commerce and Ms. Veena B Lecturer in Computer Science were attended the workshop from our institution.

First day of the workshop on 22nd july 2023, at 9.30am programme was Inaugrated by the Dr. S. S. Hegde, Dr. Subhadra P. S. , Dr. Varija N, Shri Vishweshwar Bhat Undemane, Ashwini Uduche who were the dignitaries on the dias.
Language is the devine gift of God. It is an essential part of human life. Without a language human society is totally unthinkable. The most common language for global travel and communication is English which is the most widely spoken world wide. This has aided in eradicating cultural boundries and promoting intercultural communication.
Dr. S. S. Hegde given the detailed information about “𝘊𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦”. Further he explained about how english class should lively for the studendts to understand the language in easy way and how poetry should taught for the students with rhythymically to increase more interest in English subject.
Afternoon session started by Dr. Subhadra P. S. at 1.45pm by giving activity to the trainers. She has discussed theories about the nature of language and strategies in language teaching. Later she explained what are the roles of language teachers in classrooms and while teaching the grammar need to follow the different methods which helps the students to understand easily.
In the last session discussed about the “𝘈𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘶𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨”, so teachers enacted by giving introductory activity how to bring the attention of the students and motivate them .
By this first day sessions concluded and it was very useful.
Report of 2nd session
On the second day, 23rd july 2023 at 9.30 am the workshop of english language and communication pedagogy has been continued in sarvabhouma gurukulam gokarna.
The stage programme initially been started by master of the ceremony of Mrs. Akshata. Mrs Veena and group were lead the prayer song. Later on, the programme continued by the welcome speech of Mrs. Jayshree who welcommed all the dignitaries present which followed by report reading of the session of 22nd july by Mrs. Mamata. In addition, the chief guest Dr. Varija added her words about the programme. Next to it, the stage being handed over for the quiz competition which was leaded by Mrs Sumitra who made 4 groups and asked 10 questions as advised in the previous session. The stage programme was ended with the vote of thanks by Mrs. Mukta and the stage handed over for the session concerned.
The chief guest Dr. Varija has took the session on the linguistics where she mainly focused on the pronounciation of different words in different languages with examples. She added, “environment is very important in language learning”, “we should understand the native language of the student while teaching english”.
Mr. Umesh Upadhyaya added his words about learning of language which followed by four steps namely listening, speaking, reading and writing. He also said, teacher should mingled with children while teaching. In addition to it, Mr. Vishweshwar bhat told to improve the confidence level of the student where stage fear and exam fear shall be removed.
After a short break the session was continued by Dr. S. S Hegde who spoke on written communication. He said, “mistake once committed shall not be repeated” and “teaching primary school students is difficult while comparing to teaching college students”. He also added his great words on letter writing. Due to it was time for lunch the programme took lunch break.
After the lunch, the closing ceremony was take place where the different opinions of the participants about the two days workshop has been shared. The participants expressed positive words on the programme. The Programe because end by the vote of thanks by one of the participant.
